Edinburgh Castle
Situated on a volcanic hill in the center of the city, the Castle is the largest tourist attraction in Edinburgh.
The struggles against the Normans, the invasions of the seventeenth century and the battles against the English are recreated in the paintings of the classrooms.
Inside you can see various exhibitions such as the Honours of Scotland, which houses the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Royal Scottish Treasury objects; The Canyon of the Thirteen Hours, which fires every day at that hour, The National Memorial War of Scotland, The Stone of Destiny, stone upon which all monarchs were crowned until the English Scots was abducted in Westminster Abbey in 1296, or the Chapel of Santa Margarita, the oldest part of the fortress dedicated to his memory.
From its summit are some beautiful views of the city.
Edinburgh Castle is open every day of the year, except 25 and 26 December. The schedule is from March to October from 9:30 to 18 hours, and from November to February from 9.30 to 17 hours. The last entry is allowed 45 minutes prior to closing time.
It is a very popular monument, so that in times of high season there are usually over-crowding.
